Tim Barnes is a Los Angeles born Brooklyn based comedian and writer whose absurdist humor brings light to social issues from unexpected angles. He currently tames the internet as web producer for Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas on HBO and as producer for Earwolf’s Kondabolu Brothers podcast starring Hari and Ashok Kondabolu.
Tim has written for The AV Club, the NPR quiz show, Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! and even documented his testicles once for Men’s Health. Chicago Magazine named Tim one of the 16 Chicago Comics You Should Check Out… and The Chicago Tribune has described him as “a smooth wordsmith who is sharp, polished and confident…”
He is the creator and host of the acclaimed interview/storytelling podcast, It’s All True!, which was formerly in the WBEZ network of podcasts and has been featured in Splitsider and Chicago Magazine. Tim doesn’t just produce his own podcast. He was editor and co-producer of VICE media’s Science Solved It and a producer on season 2 of Politically Re-Active hosted by comedians W. Kamau Bell and Hari Kondabolu.
With his comedy career beginning in 2011 after friends dared him to open for their band in L.A., Tim soon moved to Illinois with fellow comic Ian Abramson, working together on web series’ for Dr. Katz creator, Tom Snyder, and becoming fixtures of the Chicago comedy scene (only to abandon the windy city years later for the pursuit of the lost comedy city of El Dorado).
